Conservative MP puts (Big)foot in mouth

A (Canadian) Conservative MP has introduced a parliamentary petition to classify Bigfoot as an "endangered species". The petition put down by Mike Lake MP requests that the Canadian House of Commons establish immediate legislation to protect Bigfoot.

I guess it would be churlish to point out that to say Bigfoot's existence is endangered is hugely euphemistic at best, but at worst it is yet more encouragement to edge of reason cryptozoology.

So, no surprise to see Mike Lake trying to distance himself from the petition he presented.

Have you been introduced to Mr Deity yet?

If you haven't come across these yet, then you've been missing out on the some of the funniest original comedy material that's been distributed through youtube - which is interesting in itself because the Mr Deity character is clearly a lot better than a lot of comedy commissioned by the major TV stations.

Mr Deity is the creation of Brian Dalton and is a series of short sketches featuring the Christian God who has great ideas, but they don't quite come out right and he can't be bothered with the details. There's some background to the making of the programmes in this article, and the official site is here. But for tonight's entertainment here are two of the sketches, in the first Mr Deity and "Larry" go over "the list" to agree which kinds of evil will be allowed, and in the second Mr Deity explains prayer to Jesus as well as his problem with "spam":

Pizza delivery includes coke from Georgia (talking Caucasus not southern USA)...is this a record?

A little while ago I noticed that when I ordered a bottle of cola to accompany a pizza delivery, the bottle of coke was usually Polish, that is made in Poland with the label in Polish so clearly intended for sale in Poland. More recently my local pizza delivery have exceeded themselves by delivering bottles of coke made in Georgia, labelled in a Georgian Cyrillic script, but with a small sticker about the ingredients in English stuck on as an afterthought.

The obvious explanation must be that coke bottled in Poland or Georgia is much cheaper than the stuff bottled nearer to home, and even after being trucked across a whole continent still saves some money for the shops and distributors - although let's not get into the environmental considerations???

Anyway all the way from the former soviet republic of Georgia...can anyone beat that!?
